Basic is not dull

I’ve kept you waiting for a bit too long but here I am, still with the desire to help you organize your closet.
Though I had the intention, I got carried away and forgot to share with you one tip, related to those clothes that you haven’t touched in at least one year. My advice is: Get rid of them!

I know you may have feelings for them, maybe you have a history together, or maybe you think one day…one day you will wear them again. The truth is you never will. They will just stand there, collect dust and grow old. Wouldn’t it be best if somebody else brought them back in the spotlight?

“That old thing” for you, may become a new and important one for somebody else. So you can either sell them or even better, give these clothes for free to somebody that can bring them back to life.
What’s in it for you? Well besides doing a good deed by giving them a new identity or even two good deeds if you just give them away for free, you will also free up some space for the new clothes you want to buy. You know, the basic  ones I told you about last time , those items that are easy to match or, let’s be honest, any other new thing you are buying  so often (I know you can’t help it).

Doing this cleaning up once in a while, you can always keep a fresh, new, up to date wardrobe  (by adding the new items you dream of) and yet keep it clean, tidy and un-crowded (as you got rid of your old items).

And to show you that those basic clothes are not dull, I’ll leave you with a simple black and white cool Amish-ish look I pulled off these days. A basic white shirt and basic black pants, sweater, hat and boots, you just need to give them your personal touch!

1 pair of pants, many looks

Hello my bubbly bubbles!
Allow me to ask a question and I hope you can give (yourself) a honest answer:
How crowded is your wardrobe?
And by crowded I mean, how many clothes do you own…that you don’t actually need?

Ok let me give you a hand with the answer. I bet your wardrobe is pretty crowded, I bet you have so many clothes that you don’t even know where to squeeze them. But this is not the point of this discussion. I challenge you to clean up your wardrobe! I know, I know, it’s going to be hard, but the season is changing so you would have done it anyway. So come on! Don’t push back! Do it as soon as possible!

You may wonder what happened, what’s with the attitude. Well by doing this, you can check out the clothes you own and discover what you DON’T actually need.
NO, you don’t need everything in there!
Going through your clothes, which do you wear more often? Are there any clothes that you did not wear last year? Not even once? Or maybe clothes that you didn’t even touch for two years? Well this is a crowded wardrobe!
Come now, don’t do that, don’t deny it! I know there is at least one item that you haven’t touched since New Year ’s Eve.

Ok now let’s see, how you can avoid overcrowding your wardrobe.
Well you can start by buying some items that are easy to match and that you can use for creating different styles (more or less). You can pick a pair of black pants that can look great with a smart shirt. This same pair of black pants can look awesome for a walk in the park if you add a colorful t-shirt. Or you can add a black sexy tank and a pair of high heels and you have yourself a great clubbing outfit.
And don’t be afraid to match them also with some vintage blouses, try them on and see what you can get. You will be amazed to discover some impressive looks matching the new with the old.

So, if you have the basic elements in your wardrobe you can build up some great outfits. And next to the basics, you should always have a few special items to spice up your look.

As usual I talked too much, now I leave you with your “task” and with some looks a created with the same pair of jeans.

Stay young!

Wow this video gave me goose bumps and I can honestly say I have tears in my eyes.

It is great how these women did not let age get to them. I love their styles and their optimism, I admire their love for fashion and I hope to grow old just like them. Old age is not a reason nor an excuse to abandon yourself. Keep your spirit young and keep looking more alive than ever. They can do it, I can do it and I bet you can also do it. It’s up to you to be young at any age and ignore your ID age. And guess what helps? Clothes, hair, make-up…appearance! You will not be “between 50 and death”, you will be flourishing if you keep your mind young.

“Young woman, you’ll be an old woman one day! Don’t worry about it! Don’t sweat it! Every era builds character! “
Old age is not autumn for these ladies, it is actually full crazy summer season! Let’s keep it forever summer in our minds, spirits, styles and wardrobes!

And discussing on how to keep yourself young, I suppose each person has their own “secrets”. I for one start with the way I feel, with a young spirit, refusing to let age rule my life.  My young mind guides my actions and helps me take the proper decisions for going on like this. What decisions am  I talking about? Well the ones about the way I look, cause of course the way we look shows our age. Now here are a few secretes about looking young:

-          Short hair makes you look younger. Of course you must be careful what hair style you pick. Go
for one that best represents your way of being, weather you are a rebel wearing weird short hair cuts or more of a classic with a cute bob hair cut. Color can also help but again you should be aware what you choose. Even grey short hair can make you look young, if you pick the right style (hair cut made by Mihai Stan)
-          Nails – well this is a chapter that I started loving about a year ago when I discovered Kitty Claws. I assume you heard many times that nails/hands are an important first impression, so of course you should always have clean, painted nails. But nails don’t have to be simple and dull; you can do so many things on nails that could truly state something about you. I never go for simple nails, that’s one of my cards
-

Clothes – Always pick your size. Larger or smaller clothes can make
you look ridiculous. There may be some exceptions but you should have a really well developed sense of style to get a good combination. Keep an eye on trends, no matter your age. You can always adapt your style to the current trends, by just adding a modern item to a vintage wardrobe (pink vintage dress from StoSto)
-          Make up – Keep it simple, the more you add, the older you’ll look. Just add a foundation base, a bit of mascara and some blush and you will always look fresh.

-          And a bonus, keep on your side the right people. The ones that make you feel good about yourself, the ones that encourage you to be better.

I think that’s about it for today my bubbly bubbles! I had to share these thoughts with you, cause time won’t stop for nobody so we must be prepared.

Red&White

This sounds Christamsy, doesn’t it? You may wonder why Christmasy in May? Well with the weather we are having lately in Bucharest (and from what I hear, all over the world) you no longer understand what season is it.
Getting over the season and the cranky weather, white and read is a damn nice combination. The strong wild red tempered by the gentle, innocent white create quite a pleasant site for the eyes. And it can be worn both in winter AND summer, just be wear how you mix your items and the seasons (who would be crazy enough to wear white pants in December?) We already established that it sounds (and looks) Christmasy, wintery but the same combination can bring a marine look to your outfit (or in my case, a vintage one)
So yeah, I strongly recommend you “frost” your red clothes with some white and see what you will get out of this.
As for me, I picked a summery vintage look with a white pair of jeans and a white&red checkered top (plus my red hot lipstick that is not very obvious in this pic) and a more wintery one with a red dress “frosted” with a white shirt  with large sleeves (another vintage look item)

How about you my bubbly bubbles, do you dare to share your combination?

The (same) white shirt

Hello there my bubbly bubbles!
Now that I am back, let’s have a little talk about the essentials in your wardrobe. Remember what are the essentials? Did you manage to get them all? I have to be honest with you, for some reasons I don’t have everything on the list ( I almost never wear pumps; I’m replacing some flats with sandals or sinkers; I rarely wear those smart jackets and different other reasons) BUT I do have the most basic items and I’m working on the others.
And talking about the basic items, I picked for today the white shirt. It’s better to have more than one, of course, and make sure you have it in different styles: long sleeved, short sleeved, classic, “boyfriend”, large, tight, precious, sporty. And don’t concentrate only on shirts, expand your range also on t-shirts, cardigans, tops, halters and sweaters. White (just as black) can match any outfit and may save your day (or night).
As for me, I have a wide variety of white shirts but for today I picked a sleeveless one, with a wide collar, made out of linen (such a perfect material for the hot season). And when I say “today” I’m underestimating the moment, because I’m actually going to share with you outfits created throughout time with the same white shirt.

So here we go, embrace the white shirt and enjoy to the maximum!

Oh almost forgot, the black beads necklace and the silvery one with crystals are from Peaceful People Handmade Jewellery and I bet you noticed the ReMesh B&W envelope in one of the pictures.

ReMesh it

Guess who's coming back!Ready for this? I am here!
So yeah, where have I been? I have been changing my life, changing my job, changing home, this kind of small things in life.
My new job got me closer to the better things that are happening around us and we tend not to see them, let me introduce one of them: ReMesh - a brand born at the Ateliere fara Frontiere NGO. They are offering job opportunities for underprivileged people by recycling banners and creating fashionable items out of them. I bet you see all the good sides here, the social good, the environmental good and the fashion good we crave for.
I encourage you to give it a try, I already have some items from them ( a colorful pouch and a B&W envelope) and I plan to get some more.
You can pick from a wide variety: REcarry; REexercise; REorganize; REdecorate and REunite and each item is 100% unique, same as you.
Easy to use, easy to carry, matching all kinds of tastes and fitting all type of occasions. Oh and you will never worry about dirtying it!

Resolutions

Hello my dear bubbles!

Remember me telling you in my last week’s post that I’ll start buying shirts? The next day I went into a mall and got myself the first 2015 shirt, a plated red and blue. I’ve always liked this kind of shirts and many times I tried them on, but for some reason they did not fit. Maybe the wrong size (NEVER buy a bigger one just because you really really like it), maybe the wrong shape (same advice goes here), maybe not the best color, but that was my lucky day. And finally I have the chance to wear my studded belt! (It waited a few years for the best match, I knew some day it was going to happen. )

What I love about these shirts is how you can match them with everything: pants, skirts, classy look, boy-sh look, grunge look.

Next step on the resolutions list: try the white ones!
